Progreso is a port city on Mexico's Yucatans Peninsula and is the hub of Yucatán’s coastal communities.

The pier that extends from Progreso into the Gulf of Mexico is among the longest such structures in the world. (4 miles) It is a common stop for cruise ships 3 to 4 times a week, which dock at its long pier as Progreso is a gateway to many Mayan archaeological sites and ruins such as Chichen Itza, Uxmal and Dzibilchaltun.
Along the boardwalk (The Malecon) are plenty of restaurants , gift shops and places to lay out in the sand and swim in the warm ocean.
